Shelly teaches up to 14 classes a week, travelling to small towns that don't have access to many fitness classes, being too far away from Saskatoon. In her spare time, she is enjoys time with her family, practicing Nia routines, playing with yoga postures, and belly dancing. . She is passionate about sharing the joys of body, mind & spirit health with you through Nia, right here at the Oshun House.

Rusty Dixson. My background is fitness and dance. When I first heard about Nia, the barefoot and freeform aspects of it really appealed to me. I finally found a class in a neighbouring city and loved it! After going to classes whenever I could I realized the only way to get Nia in Saskatoon was to bring it here myself. I received my White Belt in Sept 2006 and started teaching in Jan 2007. Nia has given me the unique opportunity to teach and learn at the same time. I will always be deepening my Nia experience. I love dancing and sharing the joy of movement with my students. (Rusty will be on sabbatical until September 2012)

I have a real passion for fitness and hold many certifications including SPRA Group Fitness, Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumbatomic, Group Power, Group Step, Keiser Spin and Mat Pilates. In early 2010 I made the transition from a participant to an instructor. Having been a participant first it is important for me to ensure that the classes I teach are participant focussed and people attending feel welcomed and get a good workout.

I recently re entered the fitness world as a Zumba instructor and have completed Zumba Basic Levels 1 and 2, and Zumba Toning. Some of my future goals are to further my training in Zumba and eventually become a personal Trainer. For me, health and wellness is physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This is the foundation for my love, enjoyment and motivation towards Zumba and fitness. I am inspired by others on the same path.

Laura has completed a three-year Teacher Training program with Patricia Dewar, and earned 200-hour certification with the Yoga Alliance. Laura began practicing Iyengar-based Mindfulness Yoga seven years ago, when long-term illness made it impossible for her to participate in more energetic "flow" style classes. Yoga has contributed greatly to Laura's healing, and she is now able to enjoy all yoga styles. But she will always love Mindfulness Yoga.
For Laura, yoga truly is about one of the word's original meanings: union. Through practice and study, Laura is exploring and strengthening the integration of the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual aspects of her being.

Born in Saskatoon, but raised in Zambia, Botswana and South Africa; I've been dancing almost as long as I've been walking. My dance background includes Latin, Jazz, hip-hop and African dance. More notably in my dancing career between 2002 -2004, I was one of the first professional cheerleaders for a South African provincial rugby team.

I have trained in salsa with local and international salsa instructors, including Tito and Tamara (Puerto Rico), Jason Molina (Puerto Rico), Victor and Gaby (Mexico), Jon and Liz (Los Angeles), Ahmed and Alejandra Hodelin (Calgary), Marcos Ravelo (Calgary), Kelly and Eric Caty (Calgary), Samantha Likely (Calgary), Maxwell and Damara (Edmonton), Arnold and Leonardo BolaƱos (Edmonton), Daiana Moy Sanchez (Edmonton), Jennifer Izquierdo (Edmonton), and Usukuma Ekuere (Edmonton).
My education has also included hip hop, ballet, international latin and standard, west coast swing, and more. I became a teacher assistant in 2005 with The Studio School of Dance (Calgary).
